AURELIA BLUE EXPERIENCES

Yacht Charter Martinique

A French-Caribbean starting point with St Lucia on the horizon and an extraordinary island chain opening to the south.

⚓ A Word from the Skipper

Martinique always gives me the feeling that a voyage is about to begin properly.

We have been sailing the Caribbean for around four years, and Martinique has become one of those islands we genuinely enjoy returning to. There is the practical side — good marine infrastructure and an excellent position — but there is also the atmosphere: French-Caribbean markets, green hills, sheltered bays and the knowledge that St Lucia is waiting to the south.

That is why I like a yacht charter Martinique as the beginning of a journey rather than merely a marina departure. Cast off, clear the coast and suddenly an entire chain of islands opens ahead. It is one of the most natural ways I know to start discovering the southern Caribbean under sail.

Why start a yacht charter in Martinique?

Martinique combines strong yachting infrastructure with cultural character and excellent onward sailing potential. Le Marin is one of the best-known sailing hubs in the eastern Caribbean, while the island itself offers bays, beaches, villages and a mountainous interior worth exploring.

Its position is especially attractive for longer voyages. St Lucia lies to the south, followed by St Vincent and the Grenadines, which makes Martinique a natural starting point for a memorable island route.

A skippered yacht instead of bareboat charter

With Aurelia Blue, guests join our own sailing yacht rather than taking over a bareboat themselves. The skipper remains responsible for navigation, weather and yacht operations. Guests are welcome to take the helm, learn more about how we plan a passage or simply enjoy the voyage without any pressure.

No sailing licence is required, and prior experience is not essential.

Our ocean-going sailing yacht

Aurelia Blue is a Hanse 540e, around 16 metres long and built for offshore passages and extended cruising. We offer only two guest cabins, which keeps the atmosphere calm and personal.

The yacht carries a watermaker, solar and lithium systems, generator, 220-volt supply, large cockpit and deck spaces, SUP, snorkelling equipment, BBQ and comprehensive offshore safety gear.

From Martinique to St Lucia and beyond

The leg from Martinique to St Lucia is one of the classic southern Caribbean passages. Depending on weather and route planning, the voyage can continue farther south to St Vincent, Bequia, the Tobago Cays and Grenada. Each island adds a different tone to the route.

Trade winds, sea state and sensible timing all influence the way we sail these legs. We therefore treat every itinerary as a real route plan rather than a rigid fixed schedule.

Martinique as part of the experience

A yacht charter Martinique voyage should not reduce the island to provisioning and departure. The markets, food, cafés and protected southern anchorages can all become part of the holiday, especially if the route allows an extra day or a softer start.

We prefer to leave enough room for that kind of real travel experience, because the best sailing holidays are rarely the most rushed ones.

Food and daily life aboard

Daily life aboard Aurelia Blue combines sailing with simple comforts that matter. Good coffee in the morning, a swim in clear water, shade in the cockpit and an evening meal prepared with care all help create the tone of the voyage.

Depending on local availability, we cook with fresh fish, seafood, fruit, vegetables and regional products. Christian brings decades of professional culinary experience, and that can be felt in the galley.

Who is a Martinique yacht charter with Aurelia Blue for?

It suits couples, solo travellers and small groups who want to experience the Caribbean by sail without chartering and operating an entire yacht on their own. It also suits experienced sailors who would prefer to enjoy the route while someone else carries final skipper responsibility.

If you are looking for a calmer, more personal and more authentic approach to island sailing, this may be the right fit.

Captain’s Thoughts

Martinique has a wonderful sense of beginning. It feels connected, practical and alive, yet only a short sail away the route already opens into one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful chains of islands.

Martinique is only the beginning.

What We’d Do

For a first yacht charter Martinique experience, we would choose a route that gives you a genuine mix of sailing, time at anchor and island life rather than trying to collect as many stops as possible. The best part of a hosted Caribbean voyage is the rhythm: sail somewhere worth reaching, stay long enough to enjoy it, then move on when the next island calls.

What yacht charter Martinique actually feels like

The appeal is not simply having a yacht beneath you. It is waking up in one anchorage, swimming before breakfast, sailing to another island and arriving with the feeling that the journey itself mattered. A small guest group keeps the experience personal, while hosted sailing removes the operational workload that comes with running a bareboat yourself.

Why choose yacht charter Martinique as a starting point?

Martinique combines straightforward travel connections with immediate access to excellent sailing. From the south of the island, Saint Lucia and the Grenadines open up naturally as the route continues.

Do I need sailing experience for a yacht charter Martinique voyage?

No. Hosted sailing is designed so that guests can enjoy the journey without taking on the responsibilities of a bareboat charter.

Where do Martinique yacht charter routes usually begin?

Le Marin and the surrounding south coast are natural starting points because they combine sheltered waters, provisioning and direct access toward Saint Lucia.
