AURELIA BLUE EXPERIENCES

Yacht Charter St Lucia

Sail beneath the Pitons and discover one of the Caribbean’s most dramatic islands from the perspective that suits it best: the sea.

⚓ A Word from the Skipper

There are Caribbean landfalls that become familiar. St Lucia somehow never does.

We have been sailing the Caribbean for around four years, yet approaching Soufrière from the sea and watching the Pitons rise ahead still gives me that little moment of disbelief. The island feels vertical, green and almost theatrical from the water — and then the trade winds remind you that this is not scenery alone, but a serious and rewarding sailing ground.

That combination is exactly why I love a yacht charter St Lucia voyage. You can have a lively sail, a spectacular landfall and, a few hours later, a quiet evening below the mountains. It is one of those islands that makes the journey itself every bit as memorable as the anchorage.

Why choose a yacht charter St Lucia voyage?

St Lucia combines beautiful trade-wind sailing with one of the most recognisable landscapes in the Caribbean. The green volcanic coastline, Marigot Bay, Soufrière and of course the Pitons give the island an extraordinary visual character. It also sits in a strategic position between Martinique and St Vincent, making it an excellent stop within a longer sailing route.

With Aurelia Blue, guests join our own skippered yacht rather than taking over a bareboat. That means you can enjoy the sailing without carrying full responsibility for navigation, weather routing, yacht systems and manoeuvres.

Sailing St Lucia aboard a substantial ocean yacht

Aurelia Blue is a Hanse 540e, approximately 16 metres long and built for offshore sailing and extended cruising. We offer only two guest cabins, which keeps the atmosphere more private and relaxed than on a larger group trip.

The yacht is equipped with a watermaker, solar and lithium systems, generator, 220-volt supply, large cockpit and deck spaces, SUP, snorkelling gear, BBQ and comprehensive safety equipment for offshore sailing.

Soufrière and the Pitons from the water

Soufrière Bay and the Pitons are among the defining images of St Lucia. Seeing Gros Piton and Petit Piton from the sea gives a completely different sense of scale than arriving by road. The coast has drama, depth and a very particular light, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.

Depending on the weather, the voyage and the needs of the crew, we may include time near Soufrière, other west-coast anchorages or onward passages toward Martinique or the Grenadines.

Marigot Bay and the wider sailing area

Marigot Bay is one of the island’s best-known anchorages and has long been associated with Caribbean yachting. Yet St Lucia is not defined by one bay alone. The west coast offers a sequence of perspectives and possible stops, each with slightly different shelter, views and atmosphere.

We avoid over-promising a rigid sequence of stops because weather and sea state always remain part of sensible route planning. That flexibility is one of the strengths of a small-group voyage.

What is life aboard like?

Life aboard combines real sailing with time to enjoy the islands. Guests are welcome to take the helm, watch how we handle sail trim or simply relax in the cockpit. No licence is required and prior experience is not essential.

Food is also part of the experience. Depending on what is available locally, we cook with fresh fish, seafood, vegetables, tropical fruit and other regional ingredients. Christian’s professional culinary background adds a level of care that guests notice throughout the voyage.

Who is a St Lucia sailing charter for?

Our voyages suit couples, solo travellers and small groups who want a more intimate yacht environment and a route shaped around actual sailing conditions. They also suit experienced sailors who prefer not to carry the skipper role themselves for once.

If you are looking for a personal way to discover St Lucia and the surrounding islands from the sea, a yacht charter St Lucia voyage with Aurelia Blue offers a calm and very real alternative.

Captain’s Thoughts

There are places where the sea and the land seem to talk to each other, and St Lucia is one of them. The sailing feels alive, and the coastline gives every arrival a sense of occasion.

What We’d Do

For a first yacht charter St Lucia experience, we would choose a route that gives you a genuine mix of sailing, time at anchor and island life rather than trying to collect as many stops as possible. The best part of a hosted Caribbean voyage is the rhythm: sail somewhere worth reaching, stay long enough to enjoy it, then move on when the next island calls.

What yacht charter St Lucia actually feels like

The appeal is not simply having a yacht beneath you. It is waking up in one anchorage, swimming before breakfast, sailing to another island and arriving with the feeling that the journey itself mattered. A small guest group keeps the experience personal, while hosted sailing removes the operational workload that comes with running a bareboat yourself.

yacht charter St Lucia: frequently asked questions

What makes yacht charter St Lucia different from staying ashore?

A yacht changes the perspective completely. The west coast, the Pitons, bays and neighbouring islands become part of one continuous journey rather than separate day trips.

Do I need sailing experience for a yacht charter St Lucia trip?

No. Our hosted voyages are designed for guests, not only sailors. You can enjoy the route, swim stops, anchorages and life aboard without needing to operate the yacht.

Can a St Lucia yacht charter continue to the Grenadines?

Yes. Saint Lucia is a natural stepping stone on routes between Martinique and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, making it especially useful for multi-island sailing holidays.

Where do you sail around Saint Lucia?

Typical highlights can include Rodney Bay, Marigot Bay and Soufrière beneath the Pitons, depending on the wider route, conditions and voyage plan.
